Description

The Little Giant LT multipurpose ladder system includes several innovative features such as the dual-pin hinge and the easy-to-use Rock Locks for quick adjustment. You can use LT Model in many unique configurations— an A-frame, extension, staircase and 90-degree ladder, and with Trestle Brackets (sold separately) to form a trestle-and-plank scaffolding system. The LT’s wide-flared legs and aerospace-grade aluminum construction provide an unmatched feeling of safety and stability. The Little Giant LT is rated to hold 300 pounds on both sides and is a true two-person ladder. The wide-flared legs offer improved side-tip stability and create a wide, stabile footprint at the top of your extension ladder. The LT meets or exceeds all OSHA, ANSI, and CSA standards and is rated Type IA – 300 lbs.

FAQs
What size ladder do I need?

Size refers to the ANSI definition of length. ANSI states that the size is defined by the combined length of all rail sections, with a tolerance of +/-3” on each section. Note, this does not take into account any overlap between sliding sections like those on an extension or multi-purpose ladder. This can cause a disparity in the size of the ladder versus the actual height. To determine which ladder you need, Little Giant recommends you reference maximum reach height instead of size.

What is duty rating?

The terminology for ladder duty ratings, grades, and types can sometimes be confusing. The ladder's duty rating is the maximum safe load capacity of that ladder according to ANSI standardsThere are 3 types of ratings that Little Giant offers:

Type I - Made to handle everyday projects. Has a load capacity of 250 lbs.

Type IA- Designed with durability and regular use in mind. Has a load capacity of 300 lbs.

Type IAA- Built for professional performance and rugged use. Has a load capacity of 375 lbs.

What is the difference between SIZE and MAXIMUM REACH HEIGHT?

Ladder specifications can be confusing due to safety regulation requirements. According to ANSI (American National Standards Institute), the ladder size is defined as the total length of each section and does not account for overlap on extension ladders. As a result, the overlapping sections reduce the total length of the ladder. When purchasing any ladder customers should pay particular attention to the maximum reach to ensure the correct product for the job.

I needed to replace my smoke alarm, which is located on a sloped ceiling, about 13 feet up. My trusty extension ladder was moving and flexing a lot and was scary to use. I guess I outgrew its weight rating somehow (200 lbs).

So I've been looking at these Little Giant Ladders for a long time, after seeing them at home shows. The LT looked like the best ladder for me since it is fairly light (38 lbs), and is rated for 300 lbs. It would give me a stepladder as well as an extension ladder.

The stepladder mode at the max setting couldn't quite allow me to reach the smoke alarm, but the extension ladder at the minimum setting did the job. I was able to climb up safely and confidently to replace the smoke alarm, including hardwiring it to the AC power.

I had no trouble moving it around, including going up and down stairs. The Leveler model that Lowes carries is about 5 lbs heavier, and I didn't want to get one that heavy for what I expect to do.
