Firemans Overhaul

Product #: 15197-303

  • Overhaul™

Each job requires different ladder features to help you be successful. Your needs as a firefighter are drastically different than the needs of someone working in the electrical field, which is why Little Giant Ladder Systems® created the Overhaul™ firefighting ladder.

    Firefighting Ladder

The Overhaul™ was designed with a firefighter’s specific needs in mind. It uses Rock Locks® for easy adjustment while wearing gloves. With Safety Insight™ photoluminescent strips on each rung, you can easily climb through the dark without fear. The durable material is integrated into the rung, not pasted on as an after-market add-on, and it glows for up to 16 hours on each rung when fully charged.

Working in high-heat environments also means that your ladder is exposed to extreme elements often. The Overhaul uses heat-sensing labels that indicate when the ladder has experienced too much heat damage and should be removed from service.

    Multi-Position Ladder

The Overhaul helps you complete any given task with ease. Set up the ladder in different configurations that suit the project at hand, like stepladder, extension, staircase or 90-degree. Plus, with the equipped roof and rafter hooks, the Overhaul can be attached to a rafter or truss to prevent the ladder from sliding during work.

    Spike Feet

The rubberized feet provide stability on wet or slippery surfaces and the flip-down spike feet improve stability on grass, carpet and other soft surfaces.

    NFPA

The Little Giant Overhaul ladder system is designed to meet the requirements of NFPA 1931-2015, Standard for Manufacturer’s Design of Fire Department Ground Ladders, and has been tested to the requirements of NFPA 1932-2015, Standard on Use, Maintenance, and Service Testing of In-Service Fire Department Ground Ladders.

Little Giant’s Overhaul and Defender ladders are the only articulating ladder systems that meet the requirements of NFPA 1901-2009, Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus, section 5.7.1.3 for pumpers, section 8.7.5 for ladder trucks, and section 9.7.1.3 for quints.

    Insurance Services Office

The Little Giant Overhaul Ladder meets ISO requirements for credit on pumper and ladder apparatus.

    GSA Number: GS-07F-475AA

The Overhaul Ladder is available in a 17-foot size.

  • What’s the difference between model size and extension height?

You may have noticed that our model sizing is taller than the actual extension height of any telescoping Little Giant ladder. This is due to the requirements of US ladder standards, published by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI): A14.2 for aluminum ladders and A14.5 for fiberglass ladders. These standards dictate that ladder model size should be displayed as the total rail length of each section of a ladder. All US manufacturers use the same sizing system in order to comply with ANSI. Extension ladders, articulating ladders and other multipurpose ladders often have multiple sections, so the ANSI-compliant size is the sum of the lengths of each section, not the actual maximum extended height. Please refer to the individual ladder’s instruction manual for details on maximum working length, highest standing level and maximum reach. We’ve described a few of these measurements in detail below.

  • What is maximum working length?

The final locks on any telescoping ladder sections will adhere to ANSI requirements, meaning there will be an appropriately sized overlap between inner and outer railing when fully extended. The maximum working length is the length of the ladder at its final locked extension length.

  • What is highest standing level?

Depending on the ladder and configuration, ANSI standards dictate that certain rungs (such as the ladder top cap or top step of an A-frame ladder) should not be used as a step. The highest standing level takes those standards into consideration and measures the highest ANSI-approved standing rung when the ladder is extended to maximum working length.

  • What is maximum reach?

Maximum reach (or “max reach”) is the combination of the ladder’s highest standing level and a common user’s reach height. The reach height addition is based on a 5'6" [1.68 m] person with a 12" [30 cm] vertical reach. The term is used in ladder merchandising throughout the climbing solutions industry to help users quickly comprehend which projects are compatible with which ladders.
