How a Local Gardening Pro is Getting Stuff Done Each Day

At Little Giant®, we like to celebrate those who get stuff done.

Last week, you met Tony Latimer, the garden and landscape director at Thanksgiving Point, a venue of farms, gardens and museums in Lehi, Utah. Today, we have the pleasure of introducing you to Elvira, one of the gardening and lighting professionals at the same venue.

Her career at Thanksgiving Point began after a friend recommended the position to her, and since joining the team, she has developed a passion for the work. Her favorite part of the job is cleaning and tending the flower beds to make them beautiful. For Elvira, a normal day starts with her trimming the trees and tending the gardens; and for the next couple of months, she will be busy setting up holiday lights throughout the venue.

From November to January, Thanksgiving Point hosts its annual holiday event, Luminaria, bringing thousands of families to the gardens to enjoy the breathtaking holiday display. In preparation for this highly anticipated event, the workers at Thanksgiving Point decorate months in advance, setting up lights throughout the park to create the enchanting display. As Elvira sets up those lights, she is very reliant on the tools she can use.

When working, Elvira uses shears, shovels, rakes and ladders on a consistent basis; and now that she is setting up holiday lights, she goes up and down ladders all day to complete her daily tasks. She says that with her Little Giant ladder, she has been able to easily reach things that she can’t normally reach. Even when working in extreme weather during the colder months, Elvira says that she feels very safe while working on her Little Giant ladder.

Elvira is the mother of a 17-year-old son and the wife to a loving husband; and after a long day’s work, she enjoys getting to spend time with them at home. The strong, hard-working woman is a joy to be around, brightening the lives of those around her each day.

It was a pleasure for our team to speak with Elvira, and we hope you enjoyed getting to learn a little bit more about one of the many individuals who are actively getting stuff done. What are you doing to get stuff done in your life? Tell us in the comments below or on one of our social media outlets. We love hearing about your experiences!
