New to Ladder Safety Month?

What is it?

For the last seven years, March has marked the American Ladder Institute’s (ALI) National Ladder Safety Month, an event promoting safe ladder practices at home and at work through informative broadcasts, national dialogue and training resources.

But Why?

Ladders are a common household killer and the main culprit behind one of OSHA’s fatal four: falls. Better education and training can help reduce statistics like these:

  • 97% of ladder accidents happen in the home.
  • 20% of all ladder accidents come from stepping off the ladder too early.
  • Every day, 2000 people in the U.S. are injured on a ladder.
  • Every day, 100 people in the U.S. are permanently injured as a result of a ladder accident
  • Every day, 1 person in the U.s. dies as a result of a ladder injury

What’s the ALI?

Founded in 1947, the American Ladder Institute (ALI) is a non-profit association ofladder component manufacturers throughout the US and Canada that promote the safe use of climbing products through development of appropriate standards. You can find their coverage of ladder safety month here:
