Description

Dark Horse™

The Little Giant® Dark Horse™ combines some of our best ladder features into one versatile multi-position ladder that will suit your ladder needs for years to come.

Multi-Position

The best part about the Little Giant multi-position ladders is that it accomplishes multiple tasks with one ladder. Set up the Dark Horse in A-frame, extension, 90-degree, staircase and trestle-and-plank* positions, for a versatile, easy climbing experience.

FEATURES

1. PATENTED METAL ROCK LOCK

Metal Rock Lock adjusters on the ladder's rails allow for quick and easy height and position adjustment.

2. PALM BUTTONS

Move from storage to A-frame to extension ladder configurations by pushing in the ladder's palm buttons.

3. TIP & GLIDE WHEELS

The Dark Horse's integrated Tip & Glide wheels help you move the ladder easily from place to place.

SCAFFOLDING

The Dark Horse can be converted into trestle-and-plank scaffolding by removing the outer section of the ladder and connecting it with trestle brackets. Attach a Plank between the two trestles to cover a larger workspace, so you can work faster. (Trestle brackets and Plank sold separately)

NON-CONDUCTIVE FIBERGLASS LADDER WITH SIDE-TIP STABILITY

Made from durable, non-conductive fiberglass, this ladder is ideal for most jobs. It also features a wide-flared base for increased side-tip stability to prevent falls from accidental overreaching.

Other Benefits

The Dark Horse meets or exceeds all OSHA and ANSI standards. It is available as a IA 300 lb. rated ladder, and it is also available as a 13’ IAA ladder rated to hold 375 lbs.

    Arrived Damaged

Bought this because the size fit my needs, and I liked the step rungs on it versus other models. I know it’s final stock and discontinued, but it arrived with one corner cap missing and another broken to the point it can easily fall off. Not necessarily something that will impact the functionality and safety of the product (I don’t think), but considering how much these things cost, I didn’t expect it to be damaged on arrival. Since there were no pieces of the caps in the box it came in, it seems like it was like this before it was shipped. Contacted customer service who got back to me quickly and asked for pictures, but haven’t heard anything back since I sent them. Haven’t used the ladder because of this in case I need to send it back or something so don’t even know how well it works.

    Hello Bradley,

Thank you for your detailed feedback, and I’m very sorry to hear about the condition your ladder arrived in. We understand your frustration—especially considering the cost and the fact that it was final stock.

I appreciate you reaching out to customer service and sending photos. I also apologize for the delay in follow-up. After reviewing your case, I can confirm that we received the pictures you submitted, and the replacement parts have been shipped to you. I've just sent an email with the tracking details to the address we have on file.

Thank you again for your patience. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything else we can do to assist you.

FAQs
What size ladder do I need?

Size refers to the ANSI definition of length. ANSI states that the size is defined by the combined length of all rail sections, with a tolerance of +/-3” on each section. Note, this does not take into account any overlap between sliding sections like those on an extension or multi-purpose ladder. This can cause a disparity in the size of the ladder versus the actual height. To determine which ladder you need, Little Giant recommends you reference maximum reach height instead of size.

What is duty rating?

The terminology for ladder duty ratings, grades, and types can sometimes be confusing. The ladder's duty rating is the maximum safe load capacity of that ladder according to ANSI standardsThere are 3 types of ratings that Little Giant offers:

Type I - Made to handle everyday projects. Has a load capacity of 250 lbs.

Type IA- Designed with durability and regular use in mind. Has a load capacity of 300 lbs.

Type IAA- Built for professional performance and rugged use. Has a load capacity of 375 lbs.

What is the difference between SIZE and MAXIMUM REACH HEIGHT?

Ladder specifications can be confusing due to safety regulation requirements. According to ANSI (American National Standards Institute), the ladder size is defined as the total length of each section and does not account for overlap on extension ladders. As a result, the overlapping sections reduce the total length of the ladder. When purchasing any ladder customers should pay particular attention to the maximum reach to ensure the correct product for the job.
